Common Failures and Solutions

Failure 1: Clutch slippage (especially after the engine warms up)
Cause: Friction plates are worn beyond their service limit, or spring tension is insufficient. Solution: Replace the friction plate set and check if the free length of the springs is below the specified value.

Failure 2: Incomplete clutch disengagement (difficulty in shifting)
Cause: Warped steel plates due to heat, or improper adjustment of the clutch cable. Solution: Replace the steel plates and readjust the cable free play to 2–3mm.

Failure 3: Clutch feels heavy
Cause: Swelling of friction plates (usually occurs during the initial installation period) or insufficient lubrication of the cable. Solution: It should return to normal after the break-in period, or lubricate the cable with grease.
